I got ripped off about 17 times on programs that promise you will make money. But I never did. Now I stopped buying programs and just started finding products to sell and building websites around the product. Now I am making money, I’m not getting rich but a little money is better than giving it to the scams that are all over the internet.

Here’s something that you might not know. The fraudsters are right here on Yahoo Answers. Seriously.

There’s a whole bunch of fake job sites at the moment, and they are all related. Often, people post here to ask "is this site OK?" and then a whole bunch of people turn up and say "yes!". But it’s ALWAYS the same bunch of people, and sometimes they ask the questions and then wait for their friends to turn up, it might even be just an alternate account, get some answers and then close the question. On eBay, this would be called shill bidding, on Y!A you could call it "shill Q&A" I guess.

That isn’t the end of it it, oh no. Let’s say that you ask a question "is web site x for real?" and these same shills then report the question as not appropriate to try to get it removed. They don’t like anyone asking honest questions to find honest answers.

You may find that this question is deleted by Y!A, and if you do you should appeal against it. Also watch for thumbs down on useful posts from the shills.

Yah, I sound paranoid. But if you research my Q&As, especially in Careers & Employment and then look at the other people who answer the question, then you can piece it all together yourself.

Oooo…. I got ripped off by a man named Gerard Solorzano. He runs a divorce liquidation website, and claims to sell the stuff that he gets through the site, but the site is barren and doesn’t get any traffic. The stuff he claims to be selling, he asks for either a deposit or the full amount up front, then he takes your money and runs. He’s currently in trial for fraut and theft, and since I had more workings with him than just that (I worked for him for a while) I’m about to give a deposition and go to court to finally get him arrested for more than one day. If you ever hear from this man, or if a friend knows of him, STAY AWAY!!!!! He’s a professional con artist and will get your money one way or another.

anything that says it's not a scam usually is so if you watch out for those words you shouldn't have any problems. Anything that costs something up front is usually a scam so don't try that either.

No I haven't. I never use my true identity on the net. I conduct no business on the net. I'm old school. Still pay bills by mail. I still drive to the bank and so on.

Never, although many have attempted to defraud me. I say follow your instincts. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is and never give out your information to unsolicited requests.

no… never been scammed.

people need to use their brains. NO… you didnt win the english lottery. NO… you dont have a relative in africa that just died and left you 20 Million…

If it sounds too good to be true… IT PROBABLY IS.

all you gotta do if you even think it might be a scam… type it into a search engine. you will see scam stories there.
